what are the teeth numbers of the total box,can these be varied,
i thought about using what is available in a lambretta gearbox some time ago, several people have changed odd gears ,why not utilize the gears from the lambretta range on a changable common shaft (tree) so that gears can be changed in matching pairs to vitually any ratio ,if a tooth chips just change the damaged ones,
£375 is not a lot for something special that will enhance the lambretta drive train!
regards
joe

Hi all
on testing the gearbox made out of EN24 in stwarts scoot some wear was found when he sent the gearbox back to me,
so we have made a second gearbox made from EN40, whicth the dac boys want to try in there super scoot,
and we are doing now number 3, made from EN36, and when done will be in stwarts scoot for more testing,

That's about the best idea i've heard to date for gearboxes......i'd rather have that than a 5 speed.....by a long chalk.joespeed wrote:.....why not utilize the gears from the lambretta range on a changable common shaft (tree) so that gears can be changed in matching pairs to vitually any ratio ,if a tooth chips just change the damaged ones.....

im sure mb lathe off the two smaller cogs off a tree and press on new ones to make their close ratio boxesdrunkmunkey6969 wrote:That's about the best idea i've heard to date for gearboxes......i'd rather have that than a 5 speed.....by a long chalk.joespeed wrote:.....why not utilize the gears from the lambretta range on a changable common shaft (tree) so that gears can be changed in matching pairs to vitually any ratio ,if a tooth chips just change the damaged ones.....

This is all very interesting especially as i am having an RB260 engine being built at the mo' by JB tuning (assuming the 64mm crank turns up at some stage). I went to see the scooter racing at Mallory park on bank holiday monday and saw at least three lambrettas having to change gearboxes after the first practice, due to breakages. If one of these boxes managed to last a season on the track, that would be the best recommendation you could get, in my humble opinion. I would buy one for sure. The pacemaker box in my TS1 240 is brilliant. Why not give it one of the top group 4 or 6 racers, when you have finalised the material and initial testing. As with my choice of engine builder, without the results from the race track, forget throwing your money away. Lots of people talk a good engine, but it needs testing to destruction before i am happy. Riding flat out on a track, crashing through the gears, is the best R&D for me. Keep up the good work. There can only be so many pacemaker boxes left.........

I don't want to keep up with modern traffic. I want to hoon past it, preferably on one wheel!

why not make a cluster (xmas tree) with changable gear ? like we do in our race cars then you can mix and match your ratio's to your engine, this I am sure will help racer to achieve the correct ratio for each circuit and also for the road rider with powerful engine get the correct ratio based on there engine power and performance.
a new gearbox will b going down to the dac boys on friday for them to test, made from EN40,
