I think Tony and Sean have come up with some very valid points that could well have caused this disaster, I really do hope you find the cause and identify it, so its avoided by anyone else in the future... Wish you all the best luck... 8-)
Yes, thanks to all the replies to this. I think the cause is summed up by Dan.
I'm going to rebuild with an AF head and replace the piston with the same Racetour, but key will be to stick the bloody TMX35 back on. I think the TMX30 on a TS1 could be a disaster waiting to happen. I realise a TMX35 can be 95% jetted but a TMX30 is less than this based on less knowledge as well as less needles/slides etc. available, and that to get rid of the heat spike it'll probabley mean running like a bag of shite in other areas. If I don't get the result from the TMX35, then I may go the designed route for the TS1 and try a 30mm Dellorto.

Thanks again to all :D

Inherant disposition of a Lambretta owner, born to tinker to see if can be improved :D
When i was younger i had a disease called "Preventative Maintenance"........i used to be under the car in the pouring rain just to see if a nut had come loose....it hadn`t....i was always tinkering with mixture screws....i came back to the same setting....and so it goes on.....If it works ok then leave it alone....i am now only a prisoner of the friendly yellow duster with a bit of Turtle Wax, at least it is cleaner that when i started!!..........
Wise words my friend
