Few years ago I had 3 navs get a strange split across them ,all in exactly the same pattern and all had been on the rear of Vespas and lambrettas. Found a couple of mates had the same, sent mine to continental and they furnished me with 2 free tyres, no explanation other than that it would be investigated. Trouble is those we're made in India,Vietnam and malaysia so I suppose q.a must be very dubious or variable. Also had that issue of raised centre tread on front ones too.

Currently run weathermans ,racemans, and sip performers all seem ok although not done many miles on the sips yet.

nobody say anything bad about SIP Performers. I've just bought a set of them.

I've had them on since Nov on SIP rims.. they have knocked the confidence a little as I have had a couple of twitches/slips when cornering ...and riding sensibly..

Failed Conti Twist from front wheel of a PX, cut open to see the extent of the problem. The delamination was around 20% of the circumference of the tyre - one massive blister and on a wheel used with tubes.

I don't believe that it was overheated, nor am I satisfied with tyre companies who say 'we'll look into it', give out some free tyres and don't say another word.

I'm sure overloading/underinflation/overheating is a factor in the majority of failure cases, but not all.

Mine may have been an overheating problem as at the time I was using the scootRS valves the ones made of marshmallow and the kept popping out of the rim
The dyno guy I use now has a carbonic anhydride cooled drum
