Hi Ric.... the connector just fitted perfectly through the standard mag housing hole....

I used connectors like these when I fitted a 12v DC PODtronics reg/rec, only I fitted the plugs after fitting the stator and couldn't get the plugs through the sealing plates to remove the stator So I guess yours are ok Paul as your not using the plates, eh?

Thats right mate - won't be using a standard sealing plate... however I will need to seal the hole to prevent water getting in at wet races...... but i have a cunning baldrick plan for that........!

Oh do tell, I'd like to fit plugs back on mine.

A winter race rebuild will pretty much always include modifications,... as you well know .... which actually was mentioned in the first post that there was to be a conversion to scoop cooling...... which involves head, mag and exhaust system, and some other frame mods to allow for extra cooling options s

Depending upon time there may be some other development work as well..........

]Tonight I have mostly been playing with fork links.....

When I built the forks in 2008 I didn't have a decent set of links and there was a budget involved (!!) so I have never really been happy with messing around with the stoooopid Indian crappy damper mount clips.

So for this year Carl Neath of Neathspeed supplied me with some good quality Innocenti GP links to which he has added damper mounts. The welding is pretty good and they are very neat - and most importantly - strong!



I am using some special bushes for this year. They are a set machined up by my Dad some 20 years ago when I originally raced, I recently found this spare set in a parts drawer, so thought I may as well fit them for this year. These solid mounts are hard wearing help keep the front end all straight and true under cornering pressures.



They are a tight fit into the fork links and are pressed in using a vice;


I cleaned out and enlarged slightly the ball cup grease hole and polished the ball cup......


The stud mountings are stainless steel studs which an engineer friends made up .....

didnt the old phospher/bronze link bushes use the bolts with greese nipples in..
so that they could be frequently re greased...?

Yes mate - indeed - but the race bike doesn't exactly do loads of miles, so an annual strip clean and lubricate is fine..... but yes...... on a road bike with bronze bushes then some additional lubrication would be beneficial.

New Injun ones have an 18mm hole in the plate and a much bigger rubber to match.

The Latest...........

Last weekend we fitted the new Exhaust system. Its a blown pipe by John Howe at Jahspeed and is a prototype. Routing is initially backwards from the barrel and runs VERY close to the rear tyre. It has a kick in it so that it runs around the tyre before curving back under the left hand floorboard utilising the space created by removing most of the maghousing and the flywheel fins.

In front of the barrel is just the tailpipe section which curves round to the muffler which is roughly where a standard exhaust box would be!

Ground clearance is looking good............

lookin good,at least the exhaust will relieve the need for a tyre warmer!!
