Just looking at pictures of ramps and there are different types. The one above in my picture is pinched from a series II motor and is open-ended.
This one on thee Beedies site looks different, Is that my problem, I've got an S2 ramp and need S3?

If the reference pin is removed,will the plunger push right to the bottom in the shaft.If so the slot in the shaft were the reference pin locates needs elongating.

I've removed the pin to check and the slot looks good, the plunger can recess in fully without the slot interfering.
I'll try one of these S3 ramps (it's an Gp chaincase, ramp cut off endplate).

If the pin is removed and the plunger can be pushed right in,then its not the ramp thats the problem but slot in the shaft.
EDIT I use a series 2 ramp on a GP case and it works ok.

After a lot of faffing about with kickstart ramps lately I found the open ramp was far better to be honest. Just couldn't get the adjustment on a closed ramp. There seems to be less of a slope on the closed one and it doesn't engage as quickly as a result. It works just fine in a S3 case.

If the pin is removed and the plunger can be pushed right in,then the slot in the shaft doesn't go low enough.The reference pin is stopped by the slot before it can go low enough to locate in the ramp.

Ok interesting. Is my pin not returning all the way to the end of the ramp not really an issue then? The plunger get fully recessed.
Making the slot larger wouldn't help, the plunger can't go no lower than shown in the picture above with the pin removed, the plunger is bottoming out.

Do you have a photo with the plunger pushed right in with the reference pin removed.The last photo shows the slot,but not the top of the shaft were the plunger fits.
