The focus is to get the standard cases delivered before working on the big 330's.
The 330's are based off a CR250 crank and JS650 piston. They will use Aprilia RS125 ignitions, nothing else (these are the best choice, trust me on it). The 330 kit will be iron lined and cost about £600 ish. To cope with the power there will be a new close ratio 4 speed box with much stronger sprockets. There will also be an 8 plate clutch (both clutch and gearbox are reverse compatible to standard engines). Including a carb and budget pipe you'll be looking at circa £3.5k for a built up engine.
As soon as the standard engines are on the go we'll be working on the big kits.

Just thought i would ask. I noticed someone else mention it on here.
Its nice to see someone actually developing and tryin to make the engine more up to date and useable.

To be fair, the engines are usable now. This type of development 330cc engines does not make them any more usable. Technically speaking, they should only be used on the track as the power will be massive and I'm certain no insurance company will touch you in they knew what was in a 40-60 year old scooter with 10" types and drum brakes. I'm certain no one would be contemplating riding such a machine on the road without insurance!!!!??
I think 95% of your customers will be using them on the roadRich_T wrote:To be fair, the engines are usable now. This type of development 330cc engines does not make them any more usable. If you dont include the 5 speed then its going to be cheaperrosscla wrote:Let's say the case comes in at £500, if you're looking for high spec Lambretta specific parts then you can add £600 for a decent crank and clutch; £2-300 for a decent ignition set up; assuming the top end is similarly priced to a decent Lambretta kit, say, £500; 5 speed gearbox £800; carb £150; exhaust £300; other small parts £200.
That's you on to, say £3350.
On a Misano the case is £1200 dearer but you get a crank and ignition, saving say £500, taking you to around the £4K mark.
All of that because you submit to LAT - Lambretta Added Tax
If any of the new cases can be economically converted to take more commonly available mass produced motorcycle parts, that overcome some of the shortcomings of the 50 odd year old Lambretta designs, then you could be onto a winner.
