Just received this email from SIP.

Dear Sir or Madame,

on 10/09/2014 we send you a letter regarding a partial product recall of our SIP Performance shock absorber front & rear for Vespa PX and PK. The affected shocks of this partial production series was sold after the 30/06/2013.

There is a risk that a safety clip of the oil chamber cover loosens and the shock absorber splits into two parts due to the spring pressure where the shock absorber is not under load. This may cause material damages to the absorber in case it is put under load again.

You must stop using these shock absorbers immediately. Otherwise, there is a risk of accidents are and that life and limb are endangered.

You´ll find further information about the recall on:
http://www.sip-scootershop.com/communit ... orber.aspx

If you´ve already prompted a return you consider this letter as irrelevant.

Otherwise, please contact me to discuss further action. If you have already passed the shock absorber to third parties , please forward this message to the affected person or send us the contact information.

For the further proceeding and regarding any other questions you may contact me under [email protected], by phone under 0049–8191–96999 60 during our business hours mo-fr 09.00-13.00 h and 14.00-18.00 h or by postal mail mentioned above.

Best regards,

Had email from SIP advising me to send them the shocker back for them to assess, Sent front shock back to SIP in Germany, paid £20 postage, within a week a new 2.0 SIP Shock had been delivered.
Was worth the persistence, and in the end SIP came up trumps.
