Just looked at your picture and that angle is WAY out. I'm not sure if it is the cause of your problem but it certainly won't help and you need to do something about it. I should think it could cause either fuel starvation or more likely flooding in your case. I would try the S2 carb on it and not waste any more time on the one you have unless you can re-configure the fuel inlet banjo to let the carb sit upright.
Regards your photo, you need to use the IMG option on Photobucket not the html, that way the photo will be reproduced in the post.

Cheers coaster, that makes sense as it would only start with easy start. As you can see in the picture the outer lip of the banjo is touhing the mount, so it won't turn any further. Will try other carb and see.

here you go mate like coaster said its the IMG you need to copy and paste, carb definitely at the wrong angle, have you got the right manifold on or the rear damper off?the right rear damper? right engine mount cones? somethings not right with it being so close to the engine mount like that

Ive swapped the 20m carb to the original series 2 manifold and carb and loads more room, series 2 carb sitting up nice and stright! I bought (what i was told) a manifold from an original TV175 s3 for the sh1/20 delly but it sits far too close to the engine mount as shown.
can anyone send me a link for the correct manifold to use with a sh1/20 please??
slight delay in progress as had to order some more fuel pipe for series 2 carb so still not tested yet. Should arrive tomorrow hopefully.
Regarding dampers etc, using an escorts s2 rear shock and original engine cones

The s2 shock is a bit longer than a s3 and won't help the carb clearance but I wouldn't have thought it would be that bad

It`s a common problem with some of the 175/185 kits, the manifold studs are out causing the manifold and carb to sit too close to the mounts.
I`ve had to grind off some of the banjo to get them to sit up straight but yours looks worse than any i`ve come across.

Maybe its the addition of the S2 shock as well as misplaced studs?
