Bilko, some thoughts, the bottom steel has the ears bent up, is the friction area still fully flat? I use a Bedspeed, modded /welded, deep pressure plate and a Foxhat spider to get a working 6 plate clutch with the crown wheel like yours, you can't be that far off, it must just be a detail modification to get it working and save you a lot more money. OK as I said before I think there are 2 types of spring available. I have had the stiff set mentioned and Stickys wife TS1 has the softer set with no problems.
Two things from the pic Bob. Fit a spacer between the top of the presseure plate and the cltch compressor bolt. Mines the same and your not compressing fully.
Secondly the steel pictured with the bent up tangs check that these are longer than normal ones. It may be the pic but to me they look std length and if so the bottom steel will drop underneath the spider.
When Camlam realised they had a problem they were supposed to send replacement steels out to everyone that had had a clutch but I know some slipped through the net because I nor my customer ever saw them. I only found out about the problem when I'd assembled clutch,chaincase,filled with oil,exhaust on,test ride.............Doh why does anything ever F---kin work!!!!!!!!!!

Do the corks sit inside the recess with the pressure plate removed? They should do.

Have you tried a std 4 plate setup just to rule out that it's not something else?

They do sit inside Martin when the pressure plates out.

The metal plates bent ears fit the spider ok.

Haven't tried the old 4 plate as the sprocket size on the 4 plate was different to this one.

All I have is slip and drag with no inbetween. How the hell does that happen?

Chucked 4 plate clutches in and out for years with no real bother, but this?!!?! Bloody hell!! All the info has my head pickled. So much so and I hate to admit it, this has me beat.

Tried cam lam yesterday & today. Can't get through.

Just a guess, and probably not what's happening. But maybe the bottom steel is kicking off center allowing one of the tangs on the bottom metal plate to stick once the clutch is used under use. This will not normally show up when your building the clutch prior to actually using it.
But this wouldcause the clutch to slip as you have mentioned.
Possibly a foxhat spider might proove or dissprove this is happening as it is far deeper and allows a standard flat steel to be used instead but will also work with your modified lower steel plate.
Just a thought, probably somthing else altogether.

Ps you could just leave out the lower steel and one cork to see if the other bits are working together. You will have reduced spring pressure and less friction area but if the clutch free's off and engages it would help diagnose the fault as the bottom plate tang length or spider profile for the depth of clutch being used.

Not suggesting u use the clutch like this just to check the function of the parts and where the problem lies.

That was my feeling as I think Cam Lam now supply this kit with a Tino billet spider?

TRY SCOOTSRS , THEY DO THERE OWN 5 PLATE BILLET SPIDER AND AT £20 IS WORTH A TRY ,HAD ONE POSTED TO CHECK IT OVER AND WAS FINE !!!!!!

Did you check the movement with your lever mate?

Lever movement both ends good Al.

I had originally bought a spider for "5-6 plate clutches" and it was too long. Here it is or was, so to speak.

is the spider level with the underside of the crown wheel ? its sticking above the crownheel possibly 3.5 mm ?????????????????????????
