That is a good looking electronic ignition. Flywheel sounds like it's the same or similar to the BGM type.
ive fitted 2 now and tbh they have left me a little confused. the first one I fitted gave 5 degrees retard as the rpm rises but this one is only giving 3 degrees. :(
could be that I just haven't yet let it rev out high enough as its all brand spanking new.

Eden, have you wired that electrex with a wassell?

And do you think the retard is built into the CDI? Could try swapping them and see if the retardation degree moves.

no I haven't yet wired the lighting from the electrex stator. my gamma is running off the battery in the video.

no its built into the pickup, I know it is because the last one I fitted used a standard CDI, I mean by that that I didn't use the one that came with it to see if it still retarded when using a standard CDI and it did.

Ah that interesting info, cheers.

Nice to see if / how you wire it for the battery. I have one I'm building into an spare motor and was hoping it might be a straight swap for my other motor with the AF DC / wassell without rewiring.

Have electrex brought out a new version?

I wanted to fit one to my last build (a year ago) but electrex told me it had no retard so I went with varitronic.

I've used a lot of electrex kit on various bikes; my own and other people's and have never had a single failure.

Much better than aprilia oem kit for example and about 20% of the price.

To be honest I did get the impression that whoever I was talking to didn't know what they were talking about and the likelihood of 2 accidentally retarding systems does seem very low!

I was under the impression the Electrex kit gave 4 degree retard as standard and Reedspeed were selling them with programmable CDI to provide more? Glad to hear somenone says they are reliable as I was leaning towards one for a new rebuild soon.

There'll be someone along in a minute who's blown two...
