TMX 35
320 main
57 needle 2nd clip (tried others)
22.5
VHSH 30
150 main
K5 needle
B40 idle emulsifier (no jet)
50 slide
DQ 265 atomiser (also tried DQ264)
Came jetted with U16, DP266 and 40 slide so tried this first without success
All combinations were systematically tested. If I get it to run smooth on all throttle positions then it's lean and hot (700 degC) at cruising. If I adjust the clip then it becomes unrideable due to spluttering at lower throttle positions (handlebar marked)

What was problem/symptoms on this setting.

All these motors of ours are different and to get the best out of them may need varying levels of advance and retard. This is all relative to the tune/pipe etc. Everything affects the ignition. So you may find one motor likes say 20 degrees off pipe but only 12 on and maybe 10 to get over rev. So with an adjustable unit (albeit fairly limited adjustabilty) you maybe able to find the ideal setup.
Tony (or anyone else), Could you explain this a bit further for a layman without any race knowledge? Can you explain "Off pipe", "on pipe" and "over rev"? I'm currently using an Agusto 6000 on my TS1 and experiencing high temperatures whilst cruising at 60/65mph (6-6500rpm) with 1/4-1/2 throttle. I can back off or accelerate to get around this but it's a pain in the arse watching a guage and adjusting throttle all the bloody time. I've tried jetting to get around this, to no avail. Previously static timed at 16.5 degrees, is there a better way the Agusto could be used to alleviate this heat problem at this rev range/throttle position?
Off pipe- motor running below its power band. On pipe- running the motor within its power band.
Over rev.. say the pipes designed to perform from 6000 to 9000 over rev can be achieved by using a retarder and then you may hit say 9500-10,000. This is over rev.
To me that motor of yours needs proper setup with someone with a loading type dyno. They will set up the motor with correct ign advance for all rpm ranges if they know what they are doing and therefore keeping the motor at a safe temp.

It was the same /similar to the K5 set, too lean on cruising, if I lower the clip then it becomes unuseable due to spluttering.
One other thing that's giving me a slight niggle is the fact that I changed the Devtour early stainless endcan to a kevlar JL3 one. I don't have the Devtour one to try, but wonder if this could affect it in the ways described?

but thats the magic question who and where, most dynoers want to give you a dyno sheet and think you will be happy but as us fussy asses start to expect more involvement then they try to keep you far away. and where is the illusive roller dyno

Thanks for the explanation Tony, not too difficult really
But as Cezeta says, where could such a service be found, particularly in The South?
