Thanks coaster. I appreciate what you're saying and if (almost certainly 'when') I fit a 30mm phbh it will be through a breathe sweet filter.

I'd like to go open but i just can't get my head around unfiltered carbs.

The exhaust is the main reason your down on power.

I'm running a BGM clubman on my GT200 which does the job nicely, will happily sit at 65 all day long with a bit left for overtaking. Am about to get a GT186 for my Eibar (just waiting for the GT cranks to arrive) and will be running this with a Franspeed Race, so will be interesting to see what the difference is. Both with 30mm Dellorto and Li150 17/46 gearing

Yes, it is lively that engine :P

There's something come loose in my KBA Clubman so I need another Clubman but which one is currently rated as the best? The GT186 seems to be an excellent kit so far but with a better exhaust I'm sure it would go slightly better. I don't like the expansion pipe design so it will have to be the Clubman style.

Probably a BGM unless there's something that's proved better. I don't think they make the Mito/ Tutto/ Statos ones, they seemed pretty good. The Cam Lam Ancilotti's are much cop IMO

just out of interest I ran my GT250 on a dyno yesterday with both the BGM V3 and with the Franrace, The BGM reduced the BHP by over 10.5 and the torque by over 5 ft/lb.
Under 4k rpm the BGM increases bhp by 2 -3

BGM also reduced the rpm range by over 2500 rpm

30% loss in power between the two pipes on my motor.

Also the air fuel ratio was leaner with the BGM with no jetting changes between the two pipe.

Very interesting that Eden. I wish Scootering mag did more tests like this. Not that your implying it does, but the Clubman isn't designed (as far as I know) to compete with expansion exhaust but as I said a very interesting comparison.

I'm sure originally when it came out it was touted as giving the performance of an expansion from a box pipe or an expansion in a box pipe.... something like that. No doubt it's better than many of the other box pipes available but it's defo not as originaly touted.
