Have a look at the inside of the horncasting. If they couldn't be arsed to mask off the chrome ring they probably haven't removed the horncasting for painting so it may have the original paint on the inside.

What was the Chrome Ring for?

Did they do it in 62?

Chrome ring is where the steering lock pin locks against and the top beating race, later they simplified this (read - made cheaper).

If I recall they did away with it around 65 with the SX not having it, later on Spanish models
