Here's my cluster this has done about 16000 miles notice the wear on the first gear showing the same pattern of wear as would be expected by the gear alignment in the photo of the gear box alignment

This is all getting very silly. All you people that are using these things are like little hamsters on a treadmill. Running harder and harder and paying more and more. And in the end you're not getting anywhere.

It's only money DP, some people pay a lot more for a suit [not me, I haven't got a suit].
Have you had a go of a 5 speed? I have in a TS1, it was brilliant. I'd have one tomorrow if I thought I could fit it myself but having studied the manual it looks beyond my mechanical skills.
Thousands of people will be getting on planes tomorrow flying to foreign shores to lie down on a beach and spend far more than a gearbox costs. Next week it'll be a memory, at least you can remove the gearbox and sell it on.

Rimini are honour bound to supply a gearbox that works and that means escalating costs. Riders are compelled to buy them because they think it's a good idea. Maybe it's time to get off the treadmill?

I think I know where DP is coming from.

There is a culture within scootering that compels some people to upgrade and "improve" (I use that word carefully) their engines and scooters without thinking it through at times.

The first thing a lot of people do when acquiring a scooter is to strip it all down and bin all the bearings; electrics; flywheels etc etc.

Yet how often do the new parts fail quickly or not work at all?

Someone once said that all the R & D for new items is actually conducted by the paying public after fitment.

I've no doubt whatsoever that the supplier of these boxes are extremely honourable, and will sort the problems out eventually, but when you are paying upwards of £700 initially you do expect items to work and last. Regretably, the reputation of the Cyclone is now somewhat tarnished.

Its not just these gearboxes- its 12v kits; its rear hub bearings; its cranks; its exhausts- the list goes on and on.
