That's because it had been bare metal blasted and painted horrible black when I got it. There was a square inch of original paint behind a washer on the forks and the last owner gave me some "before" photos.

It's an original UK registered bike with matching engine and frame numbers but it must have hung around unsold in a dealers for years because it's 1974 registered but has a Chrome ring, SX switch gear and runners. As for the front brake, I make no apologies, stopping is much more of a priority than originality in my book.

When they changed to rubber mats they also changed to Li panels.:
Not quite as simple a change over as that as there are plenty of SX panel and mat (most commonally grey) examples around, incl. the USA NOS examples that I've posted pictures of previously (ochre with silver hubs, forks, drum front, etc.), although they did differ by having stalk indicators fitted. Rarely are all of the early/late features introduced at one time, more a case of specifications evolving over time.

I didn't say that :?

The more you research Jets the more you realise that they made it up as they went along. If they had the bits laying about they'd use them. If they had a batch of purple paint, that's what colour the insides got painted. I've seen a good few with mats and SX panels and a couple with runners and LI panels. You can identify trends over time but there isn't a definite switch from one to another.

^... very true of the Spanish machines but Innocenti were not much better for making changes as they went.

Adam

Edit: Soosh, you should make a real effort of documenting the machine as it is, taking photos of the original parts as you go. Because you'll never find a manual that 100% accurately identifies what 'should' be fitted to your bike, in light of the random changes discussed, and it woould be a shame to get half way through a job and think, "OK, what bolts went where?!"

Fantastic find, and in great condition :)
My first (legal) scooter was in 83 and a jet 200, N reg Li panels, vented tool box and grey mats :)

Went out on it Sunday to get some sausages. The only rattle was from the glass inside the tax disc holder. Never experienced this on a Bretta before.I thought it started very well and responsive,Turns out it's got a Varitronic ignition on it...spot on!!! This must have been fitted by the guy who briefly had it from the original owner.
