If I've followed the discussion correctly then the this only seems to work to vary the degree of advance and you won't get back to your 'base' setting till it reaches 12.5k rpm? How many scoots rev out that far?
I'd have thought you'd want some degree of retard at high revs?
Surely it would be better if it went a bit on either side of your '0' point, , say with that set to 18 degrees if it went to 24 at 3.5k rpm and back to 18 at say 5000 then on to 16 beyond that?
Ok the new graph is clearer but I still think there's a problem with the ranges and curves...anyone agree / disagree?

dont understand graph were is stage 4,5,6 and 7 ? i can c 0-3 also it shows it returning to normal timing at 12500 rpm ? when u need it to do this surely at around 6000 rpm ?

Surely 23 degrees at tick over and 19 to 17 is sufficient at 6000 - 7000 revs wud be ok? 12500 on a road going scoot is not required I'd have thought?

I think 4,5,6,7 are fixed retard mappings, but I'm still none the wiser on how you'd set this up, unless you set a very low figure, say 12 -14 degrees so that at normal rev ranges you'd be in the right area.

ive been running more than a little bit retarded for a long time now; at last; now theres a graph available from reedspeed to tell us just how retarded we really are, :freak:
muppet,

So u set ur static timing to ur desired position say 23 degrees and advance it to where u want it at certain revs?
is it meant for the track or road? looking at the chart it only seems to benefit high revving scooters like those on the track
I reckon its no different to whats already avalable, mtech and agusto, except if it goes wrong and ur miles from home so does ur coil! with the other u just unplug and limp home.

That was my thought too but I suspect it might still be a problem with graph, I would have thought that even a race sec engine would want to be fully retarded way before that.

You set your timing in the 0 setting to what you would normally run, then you have 3 settings according to what your engine spec is.The other settings will be static but in retard from your base setting so handy if you have taken shot fuel or you have bad air leak, busted exhaust etc. Guess you could say you have all three Agusto units built onto one with this with the added bonus of an emergency get you home mode.
I've tried it and happy with it.
