dont want to confuse the situation further but if bump start has not worked you will be both knackered and migithy pished off.
others on here will know far better than i but i've also had wrong jets in the carb that made mine an equal nightmare to start - what engine - carb - exhaust set up have you got?
Its just a standard 125, carb and exhaust, it was running before stripdown and rebuild but not very well. Thats the fustrating part I know it did run beforehand....
I'll check the stator plate wireing at the weekend....

are you certain the chain tension is correct?

sorry didnt explain very well, black pickup is the black box on the stator has 2 silver lines through it,it fires the coil, also try starting it with the green wire off the coil (cdi) where the ht lead comes from.

try fresh fuel mix. i had same problem after filling up on welsh coast road.good spark compression, cleaned carb tap still no go. drained tank fresh fuel and started first kick.

Went to Piatti's today after bump starting it went ok. He rode it around for a bit and again wouldn't fire up at kick start, but would if you bumped it.
Timing checked and correct
Found that it would start by kickstart without air hose, but would idle for a bit then cut out, then wouldn't start again.
Tried various throttle openings with fuel on and off and it would fire up intermittently with either setting.
Changed different mixture/air screw settings, still as the above.
Changed plugs
Cleaned out carb and blew jets out with air line. Found wrong needle float valve fitted (black) changed to correct (red) valve for unleaded fuel, still the same.
Did notice that tickover was a bit erratic with rev's increasing and lowering. Cyl head is ok and not blowing.
I'm also at a loss as to why it wont kick over consistently and only with the air hose off. The air filter is new also and tried another new filter.
Come on fella's please give us the answer

Low compression? Bump start but not kick start is common with low compression.

No, not seals as it,s not smoking.

Compression seemed ok when using kick start

You need to use a gauge. You can't feel the difference between 120 PSI (healthy and happy) and 90 PSI (sputters and won't start).
I only say this because I've been there. When you check, open the throttle and kick away till it stops rising. Borrow one if you don't own one, it's worth it just to rule it in or out. If you're less than 100PSI you will be chasing your tail until you address it.
Hope that's helpful. I hope to see you saying you've found it soon. These types of problem are maddening.
