If you look close you can see how I mounted it on a disk. I'm currently running my sip speedo using the cable drive and it seems to work ok.

Yeah thanks for that, I guess I'll need to make anew bracket to fix to the fork link somehow
(Or just put up with it as is)

Update to my own tale of woe.
Although I didn't fit my speedo for some 9 months after purchase it did a total of less than 150 miles before failing to work.

It would either work intermittently and come up with strange speeds well below what I was doing (12mph max on the way home from WSM) or be completely blank or the rev needle would stick somewhere and not move, or a combination of all 3.
The dealer sent it back to SIP some time ago and I got it back yesterday.
I'm not going to mention the dealer as I feel they are piggy in the middle here and whilst I might well have a legal claim against them as clearly the goods aren't 'fit for purpose' (and for the sake of argument- I couldn't give a rats arse where the original supplier is based since EU law says the same).
SIP 1st claimed I'd had the goods over a year (not true and not relevant since 'unfit for purpose' doesn't neatly fit into a time expired period) and then I'd wired the speedo wrong.
I have basic electrical training and the instructions are good and fairly foolproof & the speedo worked fine until it went U/S, so this statement sounds like 'scheisse erzhalen' too.
I now have my speedo back (rev needle stuck on 40 I note!) and a new black box (courtesy of the scooter dealer who paid for this replacement themselves which I very much appreciate).
Hopefully it might now work, although I have my doubts.
SIP -you have some great products and I have a lot of them (tubeless rims are superb although puncture seal keeps jamming the very small valve hole as this should have been designed better IMHO) but your customer care sucks and your legal knowledge is crap also.
Chances of buying any more of your products again -errr fairly low. Chances of recommending people steer clear of your speedos -very high. Hope you spent my £140 odd quid wisely as I'll cost you a lot more.

Mine started playing up but then I pressed the button a few times and all has been well a couple more thousand miles...

What's the latest on these speedos, do they now work or are they still generating random numbers as mine as been for some time now?
It's a few years old...the rpm seems fine, speed is another subject (using cable), randomly working and then freezing etc.. The clock doesn't hold its time either & the button hardly ever works either... Should I buy another, try to fix this one, or give up and get something else, if so, what?

I had a problem with my new one recently but it was a loose wire in the terminal box at the rear. They are still a bugger to set up....

Mine is a year or so old, but still the latest version (unless they've updated them without changing the version number). Everything works fine except the clock loses the time after a few days non-use. An annoyance which is well-documented, and should have been addressed by now, but not a deal-breaker for me.
