(i ran my 205 Honda 10 years no problems) but these newer 18+hp engines seem fragile, perhaps they are to high Maintenance for scooterists

is dealer servicing the future you wouldn't do home maintenance on a ferrari
Newer 18hp engines? There have been fast road Lambrettas around for years and been reliable. My TS1 was my only transport a few years ago and used to thrash to rallies and go and get laid during the week and was reliable as.My RS200 was 1st built in 2002 and only now just replaced piston cos I stripped motor to replace a worn flywheel bearing.I think the the trouble is,many of us only do maintenance when its shagged. Now, many of us cant just ride them,we have to tinker with them all the time and change carbs cos one looks better and start downjetting to get more power or upjet cos the EGT reads high.Timing has got to be auto retard so it gives you something more to play with. They may all be good stuff to make the engine safer but how many times we been to rallies screaming the tits out of ya cast iron barrel with static timing, just a semi synthetic oil and a good ear to listen to the motor? My old 185 seemed indestructable and revved harder than my TS. So what has happened?
