One of our local Bike/Scooter dealers Dyrons (of Dyrospeed fame) told me when I mentioned I had a Lambretta "be careful because when we were main agents for spanish Lambrettas there were a few customers who had accidents due to the rear shaft snapping and the rear wheel coming off".

I notice someone said to avoid Indian shafts . . . . IMHO Indian shafts are the best you can get and least likely to snap. It would seem that Spanish shafts are the most likely to fail. They may be really well engineered but perhaps the steel is not as good for this task as the ones the Indians and Italians use.

I reckon it's the same steel they used in the big ends. Only ever seen Spanish cranks shear a big end in stock set up.

I replaced a Layshaft that had snapped for a mate a few years ago and that was on a Spanish Jet 200!! :shocking:

Any thoughts on the Series 2 layshafts? Nobody has mentioned anything about them...
