Richjak,

I just check SSC's website... its part number 7037 if that helps? on this page http://www.saigonscootercentre.com/prod ... =1&s_id=20

Well I finally got a job! so in a month or two I might be able to afford paint! (well, after christmas / new years and a trip to New Zealand for a month in Feb maybe!)

I saw this really freakin nice mercedes ML63 wagon thing parked outside Harrods this afternoon - it had a Matt white paintjob that looked really trick! Now I'm thinking about how to incorporate that into my paint scheme!

I saw two McLaren SLR mercs drive past within 5 minutes of each other too! (I was there for work not shopping!)

Anyway back to the scooter... I'm having a clean out of the arch this weekend so I might see if I have some stuff to ebay for funds!

Oh yeah... I bought a side stand from ScootRS which clamps onto the front strut - how have people who have side stands strengthened the strut?

If anyone can post some pics of how they did theirs, I'd really appreciate it! as I cant really think how to do it

Cheers,

db

good tip from mr brady is to weld a bar between that strut and the rear one.
I'd probably weld the stand bracket to the strut too, a clamp has loosening potential.

Thanks for that Byron and Sean... I think I will weld the bracket on, I'm just not sure about trying to have both stands - I might flag that idea, but how stable are side stands?

I know on bikes they are stable enough, but they have a lot more weight ovver the top of them whereas the lammy seems to want to topple quite easily so far.

Sean - the exhaust on ratfink - is that an original or a saigon scooter centre one like the one I got? how does it run? what are the characteristics etc? I must admit I got mine because I thought it would look good rather than perform well!

sean puts them on the right side because of the motor

Its not a vespa! the engine is in the middle of the frame... I guess it may make it easier if you had to lean on the stand for kicking the bike over, but then you're just gonna bend the stand anyway arent you?

even on a lambretta a lot of weight is on the right side
