I havent asked him yet but that pipe is definately not made by him. That is quite awful. Looks like sections have been mig welded together. The pipe Charlie made was a work of art which sadly has not been copied. Shame as this motor needed the exact measurements to make it work as well as it did when he sent it. I would think Charlie would make a proper pipe for any customers who wanted it 'right'.

update- tino fitted the powerjet kits supplied by charlie. I knew they were his. Thought he fitted them before it went tho.

I 200% agree this pipe is not art.......

but it's not a problem for us .....It's the first thing I will change....Spoke to Patrick today, (the RS-performance's sorcerer) is going to make a pair in steel - maybe in Titanium...(ready for november) .We have Rotronics Dyno to check if it works well.

Bl00dy clever and no mistake. I'm surprised the cylinder furthest from the fan gets cool enough. Lambrettas are hopelessly undercooled at the best of times, two cylinders can only make that worse. I guess they've got the problem sorted though.

Spoke today with Patrick from RS , titanium will be crazy work for such a small spaghetti exhaust, first he will do a pair of very good 8/10 mm mild steel for the moment , ready for the end of september....then will see if he can dou the same in Ti.....for each exhaust 125cc the diam is +- 110mm, then will see if it's possible with the stand, splash plate etc....I want something as clever as the engine...

The crank on a twin is more balanced causing less vibration. This is just my guess, but I would like to know.

How would balance affect the airflow to the furthest cylinder?

I'm not an expert and I'm probably wrong on this one, but I always thought less vibration meant less heat. Also, airflow itself isn't the only thing that keeps a cylinder cool. Gasoline also acts as a coolant.

It was tested to the max by charlie before it went back to Tino. I think from memory it made 28hp on Charlies dyno. I dont think the heat thing caused it any grief. Of course Charlie would have considered all that when he developed the motor and made the pipe.
There are some pretty good videos from Cam lam of Mr Edmonds driving the scooter along the route to the show abroad. Some good footage throught the tunnels of the alps. Have a listen.
