+ £10 postage £130.00..cost new £142.00..small saving BUT having to take it for re-bore = time + fuel x2 (drop off/pickup)...?
Gonna get brand new 225 classic barrel..suzuki 70mm piston...116mm rod...and hopefully Mick Abbey tune.. Plus engine checked and re-built by Sean Brady...I hope..
Ricspeed, gone but never forgotten RIP my friend #59
I've seen the Indian 225 kit and even considered fitting one after all the problems I have had recently with my Rapido but the quality seemed questionable even compared to the rapido.
I have now fitted a new rapido and feel quite certain it will serve well as long as I stick to the running in religously.
The Indian 225's I seen advertised on ebay were from several different online dealers...the closest being 2 seperate guys from Leeds. The price for the whole kit, without postage was £120 on average. They both had a few of them for sale. I was gonna go down the cheeky route and buy it now...but then contact and ask if it was poss' to collect in person and then measure up the best one he had. Maybe I'd have got a knock back on that score, maybe not.
Who imports these kits anyway? Would they be prepared to sell on just the barrel?
AF need to update their website then, as their is no mention of a Classic 225 on there...although, you can still buy Dexters!!! Thought they had gone about 2 years ago?
Is the Indian barrel more of an Iron sleeved Ali barrel then? As opposed to the Rapido which has a fair old lump of Iron to it (nothing against Iron). But getting a new sleeve later on might prove easier on the Indian barrel then?
Anyway got the head now - a SIL antiwarp thick finned one.
I do want the touring style set up...although, I still want some boost ports and other tinkering done, so it would be landing on some tuners doorstep anyway. So still not decided which to plump for, with a 60mm crank, longer rod & packer I hope to get some more options re the ports and timings anyway.
I agree Jaime mate...I much prefer to have something that's not the norm'. Even if it doesn't work as well as I had hoped!!! An example is the Challenger kit or Autisa...would love both, even if a TS is better!
Don't know if you're interested but I'm about to remove Rapido kit from my scoot as had the chance to get a TS1. Also selling 30 mil Dellorto & probably the JL3 once I sort out a replacement pipe.
I would seriously consider any offers, then take the choice. I think at the end of the day, numbers end up piling up, and generally the difference is 100pounds less/more. Whats a 100pounds in terms of the joy to ride a scoot? If I tell you that for 100 more pounds you will have a trustworthy fun kit, tuned to your personal specs, I am sure that you will not have any second thoughts. After all, that is what gives that spicey feel to the scoot. My call is go indian, build your own crank, start from scratch and let someone fettle with it. But if a fellow member of the forum makes you a saucy offer, why not think about it? Your call bro.
Interested in the pipe if you can PM me on that one please. Maybe interested in the kit too, although, I only want the barrel really. But just having read a pre run Ali barrel is best, I may be tempted. Is it the classic 225?
Back to an old thread...was wondering what the port timings on the Indian Alloy 225's are based on? Are they wild or something close to a Rapido classic?
They need a good clean up I know, but wondered if a torquey tune can be had from one?

Very conservative is the answer, I've got 3, one that Mick Abbey had a play with, one that I have fettled and added a boost port and reed valve and another waiting for attention (all used and bought off here and ebay for between £30 and £50 a pop)
The timings are roughly:
Exhaust - around 165
Transfers - around 115 (they won't both be the same )
Inlet - cant; remember but not very wild
