I've seen that on a couple of large block motors but not on a small block. Do you have any links to ring pin failures for the Rt195?
Thread on here about it, also I know 4 people who have had the problem, 1 of the guys had it on his 1st kit and also the replacement

if you search the t’interweb it seems a common problem with the MB pistons not just the RT kit, yes the RT kit is a nice piece engineering but personally, as far as performance goes I don’t think the RT195 offers any more performance than you can get out of a tried and tested standard iron barrel with an overbore to 64-65mm, decent piston, a head re-profile and a few hours’ worth of porting ....but hey, I love a challenge AND the satisfaction of keeping up with (and beating) people with bigger more expensive “kits” for a ¼ of the price, plus it’s cheaper to repair if it goes bang lol

Interesting read. I just rolled over 700 miles on my rt 195 motor. So far no issues. I'm sure if there is an issue MBD will work with me to resolve it.

I wonder what the real world numbers are when it comes to fail v miles v kits?

Any fail when you're out riding to rallies is a disappointment.

In iron Lambretta cylinders we trust!

ive just covered 900 miles and no problems also another two ive built no problems mb actually recomends at between 600 and a1000 miles change your rings and you should have no problem i have just changed mine and checked the ring gap and it was well within the given tolerences if you have them set up right ie jetting fuel mix you should no problems :D

Decided to go for a GT186 kit in the end. The thought of ring pegs dropping out of Pistons put me off the RT kit. I've nothing against MB stuff I have loads of their parts on both my Lammys. I just know if there's a bad RT kit out there it'll have my name on it. Thanks for all your comments.

With that said I just came home from a Cannonball Rally were I drove 700Km in 2 days with my RT195 kittet bike after rebuilding it. So I used the Cannonball race to run it in properly and hard!

It was a dream to ride, responsive all the way through the rev range. Started first kick every time and vibrations were to a minimum in Lambretta world.
MPG landed at 54 while still quite high on main jet.

This is my second RT kit since the first one lost the ring peg. Will it happen again? I don't know, but after this race I can trust this setup fully.

I also own a GT200. They are different kind of kits. I see the GT as a more review or racier kit compared to the RT which I see more as a stable fast tourer. My GT has a narrower rev range and it also has a noticeable kick when it reaches a certain rev level. Both bikes run 28 carbs and MBGM v2 clubman.
Haven't tried the GT186 though.
