Strummer10 wrote:Alan, I suspect it makes no difference so long as the hub nut is correctly 'Torqued' to the values in 'Sticky's Book' as in reality the layshaft is kept nicely tight and horizontal between the hub bearing and endplate. I know some people use a metal spacer instead of putting the hub on and 'torquing up' .........
Got it all back together with new bearings, new bearing track, properly shimmed, but, there is still a very slight wobble on the back wheel. So, I've ordered a brand new end plate from Beedspeed, it's the only part I've not replaced new on this engine.

Be careful if you're replacing the endplate, depends on the casings but check the xmas tree bearing in the plate and the casing are concentric.
Indian casings always come as a matched pair and should be kept together as they're allegedly machined together.
I've never had this problem with Italian endplates in Italian casings but others have.

Before you fit a new layshaft just check the wheel or the tyre, especialy if your using split rims. The tyres or the rims could easily be slightly out of true giving you those symptoms.

I'd be more inclined to change the layshaft to get rid of the play as it's probably slightly worn. If your casing is off, rock the wheel and you may see the play in the endplate bush.
