being a late 1960's "mod" when I first got into scooters, I've always loved the "Outrigger" silencer and crash bars, but ALWAYS had a problem with fitment- either had to cut the rear runners or omit the O/S crash bar bracket etc. Never could get a decent fit, and the original or remade outrigger boxes strangled any performance anyway (loved the "pop pop" sound and the smoke rings though!).
To get round this I made up my own version of the outrigger by using an old Indian 42mm Clubman and removing and sealing the old exhaust to the rear. I then mounted the box on an old engine and and placed the chrome pipe and an old exit pipe from an original outrigger set up. The point of entry from the old exit pipe to the box was marked on the box. The box was then drilled and opened up to accommodate the new exit, and the pipe and box were then welded.
Result- the set up gives me 42mm performance with the original sound and NO fitment issues.
