Have you got the pin out yet?
If not,just clean up the side you have damaged with a file,then drill a hole in the bit that holds the pin.Easy Peasy.
Just make sure you get a longer pin to put back in.Someone must have one.

Yes I got it out. The match method did not work, not strong enough to push past the pin, I dont have any pin pins and the idea of drilling a hole to push through seemed a non starter as the body of the chamber for one of the jets gets in the way.
I used David (Thackers) suggestion and cut a part of the float to allow me to push it out. I dont think i have holed the float so that's good. Now I just need to understand why the petrol pours out. Can the needle tips wear out? Mine looks more orange than red so I wondering if its worn so much its no longer doing its job

Ed, really pleased you solved your problem, I think the tips can wear plus it would be a easy place to start to eliminate the overflow problem. I take it the float moves freely on the new pin? And not sticking when it's the right way up (fitted to the inlet)

Yes, with the fuel pipe connected and the bowl off, hold the float up gently and turn the fuel tap on. If fuel bypasses the needle then you have a problem with the needle.

Nope nice and free. I will test on Wednesday hopefully and with luck have it back on the road by Friday.
