I personally have not seen any of those fail. Yet.

Looks like I need to be in the 'worried camp'
I've done 1,600 miles, but as part of Lambretta ownership I need something to worry about

So,having read this thread with great interest, and being someone who is going to strip and rebuild my Li 125 over the winter, what in your opinion, would be the best crank to use?I have a Mugello 198,will use a 26 mm delorto, gori race and Varitronic.Your thoughts will be much appreciated.
If any of you own a boat and want technical engine info, feel free to ask,it's my job.

SIL cranks with a better rod, like a 110mm Yamaha one. Plenty of info about on SIL cranks with 110mm rods on this forum and others. Adam W basically said the same thing.
Just sold my boat. I had a Bayliner.

^... just the voice of experience, rather than any crank expert. I do stand by that though, I could bore you for hours... but I'll spare you that! (lol)

Hi guys, do you have any info on which Vespa MEC/Tameni cranks suffer from the same con rod weakness?
Thanks!

I bought a mec crank late 2011. I t is the 58 mm with 107 mm gold conrod and is shimmed. It came in a black and green box. I have been waiting for a kit to use it on and have now chosen to buy the big block GT later this year. Does this sound like a dodgy one? Would it be better to sell it on and get something else? or would it be better to have it converted with another type of conrod? I have always used SIL webs with an Italian rod kit and bearing, ie AF ones previous to this, but got this on a fantastic offer at the time. A friend bought a mec 60mm crank with the silver rod to build a tuned ts1, but that came without crankshims, which I didn't think wise, Speedy

My GT200 with MEC crank blew up yesterday, kit has done 1200 miles. Don't know if it is crank related yet but am a little worried

Bad news Burnside

Keep us posted what you find. I'm fairly certain I have one of these rods on the black web crank in my tuned GT186. Planned to swap it out over the winter. Will be mainly on the misses P2 until then
