Fire up on stand and run 15 mins, let cool down and run 15 mins and cool down, re torque cylinder nuts, inlet and exhaust nuts. Then thrash it !! If its been put together with correct tolerances it Will be fine :) i believe in sh*t or bust on a motor and rather it went pop close to home rather than riding for an hour and then it happens.. its only rings needing to be bedded in as bearings and seals are good from installation, we don't run modern electrical appliance bearings in that do twice the rpm from flicking switch.....

+1

Is ring bedding in something that can be measured? If you take your rings out after 15 miles and after 1000 miles, what's the difference?

How many miles are modern piston rings supposed to last for? Say you buy a new Honda CB750. At what mileage do you have to change the piston rings?

Cheers V

Thanks ALL...........well i've gently done about 110 miles now and have left it also on the stand for a while as suggested. I have contemplated keeping the D W stage 4 but was concerned it will heat seize on a long run, but i will persevere and see what happens.

Old wife's tale mate!! I've been running a Saxelby stage 4 for 12yrs now. It's only going to nip up if there's something wrong but look at it another way, what would you rather... a hole in the piston or the piston trying to seize? I work on that theory and it hasn't let me down yet. I figure if it's got a problem,it will nip up before the piston goes. Get it setup well and ride with confidence. Performance wise it should be as good as any piston ported 200cc kit on the market.
