Once you pickup the actual scooter (whatever that may be)........f@@k all......just leave it as it is and ride it!

If it breaks, beg club members to donate all the bits which were left over after they had high-end stuff built! lol

Very interesting, I just hope my missus doesn't read this and realise that all those £10 parts actually cost a small fortune. Could end my scooter riding/building!!!!

sod spending the money on what it looks like, its how it rides that matters if your going to do miles on it and if your going to do miles your going to have a few knocks here and there. Mat black it and thrash the life out of it. that's my motto nowadays.
if I spent 14k in one shot on a lambretta I would be scared to death to ride it, but maybe thats why so many don't ride them much further than the paper shop on a Sunday morning.............. if its sunny.

Just my take on it, horses for courses and all that.

Couldn't agree more, each to their own....what ever is right for the individual.

Interesting topic... Edens post made me smile! never had a "showstopper" lammie (though I'd always fancied one) till four years ago when I picked up my professionally race painted and tuned RB250- total cost about 9k, only problem is I'm sh@t scared of damaging it!! not going to justify the cost on here because as has been mentioned its very much a case of "each to their own", however no one suffered financially as a result of my purchase! well only me.....
Solution to the problem? I did what I'm sure a lot of others have done- I bought another lammie, did the engine meself, matt blacked it and thrashed it everywhere without a care in the world :D

so to add to the list/lists - what about multiple bike owners and costs? I know theres a lot out there....

Had a chap in today, who said after reading this thread he had gone to 'tot-up' his invoices for his recent scooter build just out of interest.......the ACTUAL amount he had spent was about 40% more than he THOUGHT he'd spent. So i thought i'd make this thread a 'Sticky' for anyone else who found it useful, and wanted to add to the thread.

It's certainly and eye opener, but also useful for insurance valuations. Insurance companies like spreadsheets and receipts ;-)
