Just a couple of things to add:
Don't buy the cheapest gauge, the type of thermo couple to use is a "K type", these are all pretty standard but remember a couple of things, you must have a stable power supply to be able to get a stable resistance measurement so this means you need a gauge with a power supply and also a battery on your scooter (unless you use a Mychron which has it's own battery etc).
A cheap 2 connection resistance gauge will not do, you must have what is called "cold junction compensation".
Remember that the length of the thermo couple cable is factored into the resistance of the probe....so DO NOT cut the cable length down this will drastically change the readings (and it isn't linear).

How would you know if the gauge has 'cold junction compensation? My cheap (£40) analogue gauge has a K type probe and a DC supply which I'd assumed was just to power the backlight although the gauge won't work without the DC connected. My CHT only has the 2 wires, no DC.

I dont know what connections they come with but I guess I'm gonne need EGT, Speed, RPM and maybe CHT for now but find out what can be connected to the standard box without the addittional module for now Cheers mate
