Looks like hours of fun ... Did you get any distortion of the crankcase, with all the welding for the crankcase Induction..?

there is a lot of responce to this thread ian,are you sure there is only a minority who would be interested in water cooled cylinder set up!

I stand to be corrected but I say it is uneconomical to put a mass produced LC cylinder kit for lambrettas into production.
You would really struggle to sell 100 of them.

There is a big difference between forum talk and people stumping up the readies.

Total agreement Ian the R&D and the financial investment for Mark would would be vast and the final figure for the kit would be very high when you compare what a TS1/RB kit costs you, you could probably triple that, so people in general would go for the TS/RB kits I reckon so MrB would be left with white elephants and a hole in his bank account just look at the price of the dactek engine..Lovely bit of kit but highly priced..based, and I might be wrong on the development these guys put into it..although they have sold or have orders for a few...Id like to know there lay out so far ...but out of my price range...so over heating go faster kits for us mere mortals..

I hoped everyone would have forgotten about that, Sean. Perhaps you're one of the people still laughing about it. I might join in the laughter in a another year or two.....

Meanwhile, I think people think that water cooling means the end of seizures, and that's why they consider the LC option so desireable. In fact, the Japanese manufacturers migrated to water cooling to stabalise the temperature of the engine, rather than prevent seizures.

Even in a working engine, output varies hugely with temperature. Keeping the engine running at the optimum temperature is the task of the water cooling. You can still seize a hot water cooled engine, and they can spring eaks, and they can boil over, and the water can freeze, and the pumps can fail ........

Water cooling can be just the start of a new set of problems. I'm glad Peter has my engine.
