I'd struggle to argue against that. Although, since I got this it has rekindled the love i had for N183 NMB, my 5000 miles classic t5

John, I think the Vespa do is in Italy, mate. But, one step at a time, Lambrettas have been in my blood for a long time
Anyway, here's a few more pics:
Rear brake light seems to have packed in but everything else seems to be working fine now. Even seems that the ultrasonic cleaning of the original gummed up carb seems to have worked too
I've only done a couple of miles as not road legal yet. But, it all seems so so smooth. Gear changes are very precise, acceleration is quite leasurely but engine seems to pull, pull, and pull a bit more. Suspension is a bit bouncy, as is seat. But, at this rate, another couple of hundred miles on this and I may be a Vespa convert

This was good advise, ShamrockE. The ultrasonic cleaning of the original carb had not worked. Bought a re-checked Spaco SI 24/24 from SIP and I now I have a non-flooding carb and a purring Rally engine
One question though. The jetting on the new carb is slightly different in that it has a 55 pilot as opposed to the original Rally 50. But, the slide on the new carb has a cutaway whereas the Rally slide doesn't. I'm guessing the cutaway partially compensates for the larger pilot and that this is the jetting for a P200?

Wouldnt be 100% sure but what you say does add up, I was very fortunate to have a NOS dellorto p200e non autolube and evrything was the same from memory as i ws keen not to change anything but i will double check this and let you know.

Don't go to any trouble, mate. Scoot is running well at lower throttle progressions (not had it flat out yet) so I'm going to keep this pilot and slide arrangement. More curious really as I know so little about vespas.

It's looking very nice Paul but the poor GP is looking a bit jealous in that shot in front of the garage

GP shouldn't be jealous, mate. It gets used every day. Whether it will when I finally get the Rally V5 from Swansea..............
