"Touring tune" f@@k me thats good.
You're spot on about the enjoyment factor of building the TS. Luckily I had all the facilities to hand.
CBA to work on other peoples bikes but enjoy 'tinkering' with mine.
There has been a lot of ifs, buts and maybe to a question that ducksta didn't ask.
Be nice if Tony can get info off his German mates and do a proper thread on long stroke T5s.
Ducksta, don't know where you are based, but I'll PM you when I take the TS on a rally to see if you're about, so you can give it a buzz up the road.
who would build the following t5/ts1 conversion

TBH...in theory it sounds like it should be more common....60mm P2 crank running a reed valve + Mallossi 172 kit = circa 200cc

I will post a link to some projects. I might even be building a long stroke t5 off the back of this thread as I have been asked to do it. If the guy goes ahead how about a side by side at the shootout oz?

but surely this brings us back around again in full circle to the question of just how much power /torque can vespa casings withstand ( p200 or T5) not to mention the clutches that have to cope with crank speeds

Well Oz you are dissing me as the 'expert' or the 'fuckwit' after all... so... I am prepared to put my money where my mouth is.
On this thread I did not knock or slag off your motor which I actually admire as a nice piece of work). I have not personally attacked you either. We had a ruck on another thread maybe 2 years ago as I felt you slagged off a friend of mine.. But I have let that go. We spoke on the phone and I guessed that was that. Let it go.. its history. Or give me a call and lets clear this up. Life is too short.
What I did though is give some honest advice based on 'port time area' to someone who asked advice. Thats what forums are for.
I am sure your vespa runs well. But it could go better and thats due to the science of port/time/area.
