Another blow out coming home from Brid. Rider and passenger both fine but rumoured to be another Schwalbe

Frank, I assume thats Gary's ?
If so it was a Schwalbe on an SIP rim. done less than thousand miles, the more recently bought ones seem less reliable ?????.

Yep. They had a lucky escape.
When I took my Schwalbe to the tyre fitters to get changed he told me that it had two weak spots and was a blow out waiting to happen.

Are they going to be taken off the market? Surley with all these problems trading standards should/would intervene and with all this press and people continuing to sell them could be liable for injury, damage or death
