Nobody can say which of the new clubman pipes will 'rule the roost' at this stage as we have yet to see a same day/side by side dyno comparison. Indeed, we may even find that one pipe best suits one kit over another kit so we really can't say which is better...... better for what?!

Also, most expansion manufacturers design a range of pipes to provide a different power delivery to suit different kits and/or different uses (e.g. road, fast road, race). Fitting the wrong expansion to the wrong kit results in rubbish performance, there is no reason to think that fitting the wrong 'super clubman' would give a different outcome!

I've not read up on the latest detail for this generation of pipes but I do know that at least one of them is developing (as all pipes do) as a result of on-going R&D and that at one time there was talk of offering 2 different U-bends to provide different power delivery to suit different rider styles and allow the same clubman body to better suit different tunes/kits. I'm not sure that ALL of these pipes have actually done that much R&D.

We'll wait until there is an independent review of these side by side before I listen to 'claims' from any of the manufacturers.... simple as that. We've heard too many claims in the past, which have not been reflected in side by side testing. The small block shoot-out that Scootering did was a perfect example of claims not being reflected by reality.

I wish all of these developers well and thank them for continuing to keep the Lambretta scene going. What I also hope for is an end result that delivers the goods at a price that the majority of us can actually afford and justify.

I'll probably get the first 'Clubman' that comes out between RM and MBD. Hope the MBD one isn't too expensive compared to the RM one.

I put my name down for both but got an email back from RM which was nice to get. If it were me I'd have the email blast ready with an RSVP attached with details on how to pay.

On the scoot today, it's running a final ratio of 4.84 with a AF/KBA on, it runs well but I get the feeling another 1000 revs is possible with either the RM or MBD pipe and it will be perfect.

I think they have an "almost here" on MRB site, with a £230ish ticket.

What I find really annoying is that with the MB one we are being forced to purchase both round AND oval stubs rather than have a choice and therefore reduce the cost.

If MB produce two to satisfy a need, and it is pretty cheap to make, then it probably costs less just to bundle both rather than urinate about having two separate part numbers, two bin locations, two chances to get it wrong and therefore customer annoyance, leading to extra cost with posting out the other one.
You could also look on it as being given the possibility to move from one barrel to another.
Sound business decision? Money grabbing?

The latter IMO. Anyway just to get back to the thread title, is there any news on when this will be ready to sell OR Ron Moss's Superclubman.

The JL range come with 2 stub manifolds. I thought about only supplying one and reducing the price but fear I'd get slated for "nicking" the spare one to flog on at a profit. It's a no win situation. Plus you then have to start explaining to potential customer what the difference is between reed and piston port cylinders. You'd be surprised at how many scooterists don't know.

You could have some fun there

managed to hold / look at both Clubmans at Belgium Euro earlier this year. The MBD pipe cross section thru the main box part of the exhaust is significantly bigger than the other Clubman and incorporates a few neat design touches. They have also found that the diameter of the tailpipe has amongst other things, a direct effect on CHTs too, and again this is reflected in the design. The slip joint at the mounting point allows quicker exhaust removal possibly without the need to remove the running board which most scoots that run a Clubman will have surely?
Of course both Clubmans will perform well, but I feel that MB, rather than modify an existing design, have taken it a step further and hopefully the R & D will pay off with a decent product that says what it does on the tin?
