I was just thinking the same thing! I think my life is a bit too much like that at the moment. I need to slow down and arrive safely more often :D

After measuring the frame again and looking down the head tube I see it is bent back at the bottom. The lower fork bearings only touch the cup at the front. Not good.

You can see that it's bent where the paint has flaked off :-

Thanks to Irish John at Lambretta Finder I have new forks and thanks to Tim Vinck of Lambretta Club Rumst I have a new frame. I'm not sure I like the colour but it's a straighter frame than mine. I'm too lazy to try and paint it for the moment so it's going to be a rat-scoot until next winter when I can do a proper job.

I've already started moving all the parts over from the old frame but it takes a long time. Some things like the tool box have never been removed and all three nuts were really corroded. I've sure there will be a lot more. I think I'm going to nickname it "Rhubarb and custard".

Almost done with the rebuild now. I was in the UK last weekend and collected a pile of parts from my parents.

New legshields and front mudguard. A new wiring loom. Also a new Irwin vice.

Still going with my plan of not doing a proper spray job until next winter. I've left the legshields in primer grey. I've sprayed the front mudguard in Duplicolour "pale ivory" which was the closet match I could find in the local DIY shop. Again it's just a primer to keep the rust off until a proper respray.

Almost done. Rewired with a new loom from Lambretta Cottage, found I didn't need the junction box at the back any more, the new loom is much simpler. Started first kick!

Needs a shake down run now to make sure everything works before Euro Lambretta.

PS A friend of mine proposed I paint it red to hide the blood stains from my next accident :) He thinks he's clever with photoshop

All done now. Went for a ride at lunch time to check everything is working. Clutch cable needed a bit of adjustment and there's no low beam headlight but the rest seems to be ok.

I tried to think of the nearest ironic destination for my test ride (I thought about the slaughter house in Anderlecht) :-
