Sprocket choice help needed.

If it helps,i use to run a standard TS200 with original AF spec of Fresco and 34 Amal,yours will have more grunt than i had with the extra cc and the Taff pipe.I pulled 4.8 with me and mrs (approx 22 stone in total) + bags n camping gear.

TS1s produce about 18/19 bhp out of the box, and 14/15 torques if your lucky. 5.2 gearing is right for this bike 2 up with gear, 4.8 will be a pain when you encounter a hill. listen to Mark.

You can't scream the tits off a bike fitted with a Taffy road pipe, they have less rev out than a clubman.

so you saying that the taffy pipe doesn't rev high yet recommending a high revy gear set up? Sounds like it would be better running a clubman, these ts1's must be crapper than I thought they were

I'm saying be satisfied with a max of 70 ish mph (that you'll actually be able to acheive) in return for being able to pull 60 all day 2 up with luggage with great hill climbing ability. You would most definitely not be better off with a clubman as you'd lose about 4/5 bhp, the Taff road is a great pipe but don't buy if you want to thrash the engine at high revs.

Mark Broadhurst recommended 5.2 on this set up and use and I feel He has the knowledge, skill, and experience to be right. Many people these days run gearing that's too high, this in turn leads to revving ang screaming in lower gears much of the time, and an inability to pull properly in top gear. Seems to be a macho thing running higher gears than the next guy

Im only too talking from experience,ive got a feeling there may be more than just Mark who has experimented with this.I did have a Taff pipe on mine for a bit with 4.8 and felt it run out of steam in 4th with 4.8,pulled like fuk though even with chick on the back .Like i said,it was only a 200 but std so hadnt had some hoon let loose on the exhaust.5.2 will be fine but may struggle to get past 70mph.
My mrs is taller than me and has massive hooters and im pulling 4.8 on my iron barrel with her on the back at the mo.
There is maybe a bit of a thing going on with high gearing but it is achievable with good work,or in some case no work,just leave the ports alone and bolt it on.

When i had a std rb22 it wouldnt pull any higher than 19 47 but uphill or into wind it was rubbish. I now have a tuned rb235 It will pull 19 47 nicely now, I base all my set ups on rally riding luggage and riding clobber isnt light! not ride outs or around town and I'm not a slim chap either. I've tried 20 47 on the rb 235, was ok on the straight but not uphill or windy. As I run it now it's very revvy which Is. I'd like to get the revs down but that will compromise it running cooler so I'll keep the revs.
