The factory only welds them in a few places. People sit on the bikes while on the stand. The worst is when people ride off the stand

The previous owner always kicked it over off stand
I had major problems doing that and ended up with my shin in tatters so ended up firing it on its stand
The compression on the bugger was horendous before the rebuild

Yesterday i managed to ponce a MIG welder off a club member
So today i are be mostly......learning to weld
Once im happy and confident with the thing i'll turn my attention to the frame strut
Im tempted to weld up the original tool box door if i get good at this blu glue milarky
But im scratching my head on how id fit the long range tank strap if i do......any tips lads ??
With the new Monza reed valve set up the cable run seems abit cluttered in my eye
So im thinking of running the cables and loom thru the frame ......any advise for or against ????

Welding the tool box door would fek up a perfectly good frame hoop imho, I'd keep the door and get a Diablo tank with a small toolbox recess built in

Ive already boughtt the TSR long range tank but that cant always got on the bay of E

Just PM Al (Diablo) on here, he makes them to order and your specification re cutouts and any front recesses.

As for welding, you have my sympathies, I have my own mig set but have varied results. It sounds like yours may have a spot welding setting. For metal as thick as a frame you will want the max amperage and a fastish speed the wire. Make sure you have a really good earth and grind any paint or rust away from the weld area, don't move the nozzle too quickly. Good luck, my borken bracket has snapped twice since I forst welded it

Ive rang the man.....he has what i need ( even tho i didnt need it untill you sugested it ) in stock but it is reserved to another uptill tommorrow....if he dont come thru then its mine or else i got a 3 week wait and im Mr impatient at the best of times
The down side is ive already ground the original tank mounts off the frame....so a call to resurection scooters is in need
I got some new wire in the welder today and after a little play around it started to work better
Welding aint as easy as i first expected but im determind to suss it

I could be wrong (probably am) but I'm not sure that Al's tanks use the original mounts, can anyone confirm ?

As far as welding goes, practice makes you less bad. Get some old thickish steel, clean off rust, oil and paint that will just contaminate your welds, and just lay down some(lots) beads to start off. As mentioned, a good earth clamp makes a surprising difference. Play with the settings until you get you get good metal transfer, not all spitty.
There's loads of fora on welding, there may even be one specific to you rig. Most will have a tutorial of sorts to help basic set up, or a guide as to what to look out for.
If you're doing it in your shed/garage make sure anything combustable is out the way, stuff like oily rag or wood shavings are favourites to spoil your day. Spatter can go quite a distance.
