Ok, put a new pilot and main jet in today and nothing, it would not start. No fuel was getting through.
Put the original ones back in and eventually it started but it won't tick over and needs throttle to keep running.
So tried new jets back in and eventually it starts, but no tick over and have to give it lots of throttle to keep running but after 20 seconds or so it just dies and will not start again. Now i cant start it at all.
No ideas what to do next as it won't start and i can't keep it running long enough to try and suss it out. :wtf: :wtf:
I'm applying the choke when trying to start it and giving it some throttle, so when should i turn the choke off?

I had no problems starting or with tickover before i touched the jets, now i've got no idea what to do.
Any offers please?

Many thanks,

Muffster.

Further to both your posts, start from scratch. Set your timing up correctly and heed the advise already given. Make sure your new woodruff key is located correctly and the taper is in good nick. Get an air duster can or carb cleaner and make sure your jets are not blocked (air duster to blow through all orifices) Fresh fuel correctly mixed. Once you get her going, she should not need choke for much over 30 seconds or so. Make sure your choke is operating correctly and look through the front orifice of carb to make sure it is actually shutting off (you should be able to see the choke plunger going up and down as you operate it) Haven't you got any scooter mates nearby who could help out a bit?

Hello mate.
I was pretty much at the satge you mentioned above when the woodruff key let go!
Carb is clean and i've blasted the jets with cleaner+air and iv'e visially checked the choke is operating properly.
I've managed to borrow another one for now so i can progress tomorrow and re-check the timing.
Hopefully will get some results tomorrow.
Thanks for the advice.

Ok timing re-checked and is spot on.
It's very difficult to start and when it does it dies very quickly. Choke on, no throttle it just about starts, then as i apply the throttle
it dies. If i manage to get it going for longer give it full throttle for a few seconds and it just dies again.
So what next, different jets size again??

Cheers.
