The middle sized of these fits straight to the battery tray.Bilko wrote:I remember some years ago someone making up a metal box with a lid that went on the battery tray. I think it was Jimmers, but I'm not sure.

had a look at the pics and still looks to me that its in the way if you gotta get the wheel off :-/
I do like the idea though and as sydduckett says it's handy if you run an inside leggy spare wheel carrier, I have to admit I hadn't thought of that as I have a rear carrier.

The box is held on by three M8 bolts. That's less bolts to undo than the wheel itself.Donnie wrote:Knowledge wrote:Something like this?
be a pain when it comes to changing a rear puncture though surely?
I ought to explain that this box fits under my panels, which are a one-peice fibreglass item.

well theres definitely a market for it, preferably made from aluminium: I've had a look at some old ammo boxes but they tend to be too heavy duty and heavy being the operative word really.
I'd be happy to pay £20-25 for an ali one capable of holding 2 or 3 litres of oil (rock or sip bottles).
Not bothered whether it had a cover or not.
It'd be a godsend on euro rallies and would lock securely under the panel.
I currently have the diablo tank (no toolbox left) and a nanucci inner legshield one going on soon (smaller than my serveta one) so I DO need the extra space really as most who know me will verify how many tools and spares I carry!
