This ain't loose dirt, it's like tar, a jetwash won't touch it

hence my comment of soak the lot in deisel for a week then gunk or jizer ,im sure a vapor blaster would expect you to do that first anyway

Mike, my technique has never failed me once and trust me I've had to ungunk engines that where as bad or even worse than that (its the local thing you know

) I use petrol directly. A large bowl of petrol and a brush. The big parts with gunk just simply go away with oven cleaner or wood cleaner as they have pointed out. A friend of mine uses brake cleaner althou I have never used it myself, I dont know it by experience but he says it will degunk anything.
Let us know how you get on with them dirty bitches...

Took these to my neighbours gearbox company and used his paraffin cleaner and then a spin in his hot degreaser...

With a little elbow grease they came up a treat, well pleased

He's right you know works a treat & cheap too!
Spray on leave for 20mins, no longer on ally as it caustic, agitate with a stiff brush and wash off. Simples.

That's fine but I didn't want to leave all the s**t on me driveway once I'd cleaned it off the casing
