saw a finned cylinder head on a race lambretta at lydden
was a huge rectangular shape that looked offset with the combustion area and the head sort of extended down lower aswell with a scoop below to angle airflow up and over the head
havent explained it well sorry

Maybe this one...

He also had a large scoop which was held in place by 2 springs over the top of the barrel, very simple but effective. You would have to drop the shock to get at the plug but thats no biggy.

I think all the group 4 ones had this sort of set up, least all the ones i saw did. Charlie Edmonds was more hidden away along with his frozen 2 stroke....

Yeah that the sort i saw, i dont think all the racers defo use the MZ, they all seem to have that rectangular oversized head but off diffrent makes of bikes. On your pics you can see the large area at the back where the barrel meets the head. It wouldnt take a lot of fettling to cut down a standard cowelling and butt it up against the back of the head. This way your always cooling the barrel whenever the engines running. May be a bit belt and braces considering what prev posters have said but would surley improve overall cooling even more..?

You don't need it any cooler that 90. Cowlings are just not needed they actually hold the heat in, also flywheel fans pick up road dust and dirt and blow it all over the barrel, meaning the fins cant work as well to disapate the heat.

I might be barking up the wrong tree here. But i guess this is the same scooter you posted on young guns? But i guess you have added a different exhaust and painted the crank case?
