going by the link you get the expasion pipe whether you want it or not
It's only Cam Lam/Charlie offering the full package that's fully endorsed, this is for a very good reason. I believe you could buy Tino components elsewhere, but why would you when it's all been designed to work in harmony... unless someone knows better than Charlie?

I think you'll find that the reason they won't give a date is because what they are saying is that the r and d is done and they are now waiting for the production run (which will probably be handled by Tino and then checked by Mr Edmunds) so they are in other peoples hands for the final launch date.
I understand that all kits sold by Cambridge will be pre checked by Charlie. Remember the Super Monzas for sale by other shops.......they were the prototypes that Charlie rejected as they were manufactured incorrectly.
Personally i think its well worth waiting for.......a full kit, barrell, head, piston, crank, ignition, carb, exhaust which are all designed to work perfectly together for touring......Bring it on!

Nelson, don't get me wrong I too think this kit will be worth waiting for and it's good to see all the testing has been done before release. I just need a price and release date so I can keep drooling in anticipation or forget all about it cause it's out of my reach

If I were you, I'd budget for £2.5k plus a clutch and gearbox of your choice.

I dont know the price but soulsurfers around the right lines as your paying for the head, barrel, piston, exhaust, ignition, crank, carb what i understand. However this something to think about. We as scooterists get hold of a barrel kit , then match a head and an exhaust and carb and choose an ignition and hope it works together. If you wanted best performance you would get a tuner to match everything together and that would be mega bucks as they would certainly have to design a pipe that works perfectly with your set up.
From what i understand, if you buy a full kit from camb lamb and checked by charlie, you are getting the optimum performance possible as everything is designed to work together from induction to exhaust.
I am not someone who works for Camb Lamb or anyone else. Just someone who buys a lot of parts from them who has chatted about the forthcoming kit.
From reading tuning books on two strokes, i really welcome the idea and i'm very keen to see the results.

CamLam have answered some of your questions...

Cambridge Lambretta wrote:"Q.) When will the kit be ready
Answer When, and only when we are 110% happy there are no issue with the kit, all the manufacturing process are done completely correctly, and all the niggling faults built into the cylinders by the casting and manufacturing processes are completely spot on. We have no control over manufacturers cocking up Charlies hard work, so we have no control over dates it will be ready.

Q.) We are often asked how much the kit is.
The answer is WE DONT KNOW, as final spec on the kit is still being carried out.
Approximate costs :-
Kit :- £700 to £800
Exhaust :- £400 to £600 and no you can't run it on a f;@;king clubman!
Carb :- £150.00
Varitronic £350.00
Crank £395.00
Clutch £190.00
Bearings, seals, chain, guides, specialist loctite, and other sundries £200 to £300.
Factor in gearbox, fitting and other things your bill will be a minimum £2000

We shall have an e-mail list operating shortly to keep you informed of any developments."

It's a shame that they are using the variatronic, no option for running a full DC system :(
