The bike was involved in a serious smash a while back and it had never done any mileage since. The oil seal had popped three times during rebuilding / testing and I had thought that the guy had cleaned out the exhaust, however, I have since learned that this was not the case i.e. causing the smoky exhaust & oil from the end can . Although I still get a little oil from the end can, it is nothing in comparison to what it was.

The carb was basically a mess i.e. cable choke mechanism not working right, idle jet too small, wrong needle fitted. I knew nothing about carbs prior to this escapade !!!

Basically it was a combination of things that had been causing the problems, but the bike is running well so I am happy to leave it as it is :fb:
