I had to shave about 2 mm off the raised rib that the standard speedo and rubber seal sit on and a few wraps of tape round the chrome (Plastic) bezel and it just clamped together. The speedo electronics bit is only 13mm thick but it has a hollow black box with mounting bolts to make like any other dial or gauge, I looked at using the back of an old speedo as it would clear the pulleys but its taped up at the moment, I may get some silicon and pot the back of it if it gets damp.
We need a fix for the rev counter or may have to bight the bullet and get a legit Acewell

must be something out there... look up tach converters or adapters... MSD or Autometer maybe...?

remove from here ?
Yes but no need to loose all of it so should I ever go back to standard the original ring will fit, I also put a couple of 2 inch O rings round the case and a couple of wraps round with insulation tape. it was then a good tight fit so should stop any water getting down

Any one know what output the pickup from the stator gives out?
I was thinking down the alternative pick up route or sensor on the flywheel? Not sure if its the rev counter that is getting too many pulses from the green CDI or its the rev counter doubling up

There must be a way to convert a tacho from 4t to 2t. At home I have a multimeter that has a tacho function built in. There is a button to select between 4t and 2t. Need to talk to one of the electronic whizz kids on here I think.

i Have spent the last couple of nights looking at sites on the web, seems a common problem in the states when putting V8 in cars and they have a lot of multipliers. (Not cheap) I am also looking at a way of measuring the output so trying to borrow an oscilloscope as my meter can not separate the signals in fact someone may correct me, the voltage on the green is a charge that is generated by the stator that transfers into the CDI to charge the capacitor, that is discharged at the correct time by the pickup, so maybe someone can tell me should we be using the red from the pickup.?
I did find a drawing for a inductive pickup (already tried the wire wrap way) like you say a lot of clever guys on this site, thinking caps on.
If I can get a pulse at low voltage I have ways of dividing it but not at 120v-180VAC
work in progress

rev counter read 4x as its a 4 cylinder version but all idiot lights work as you can see, left indicator , main beam and the red is spotlight on
