Had a similar problem once and it turned out to be the CDI. But could also be any number of things that I haven't had problems with yet!
I had same thing a while back turned out to be low tension coil breaking down on stator
Lambrettas are for life!
My bet is electrical. Probably the low tension coil. As the scoot is getting hotter the break in the coil is getting further apart and then cutting out as there is no connection.
Thats what i would suggest. However to save the hassle just in case, its worth trying a cdi that is known to be working before going on to the pain of changing the low tension coil just in case, as we all know the cdi can cause strange issues.
But definitely electrical in my humble opinion.

I Kept getting a vacum in my petrol tank last year with similar results with a twin tank conversion.Changed tank
problem went.
Could try drilling through the centre off a bolt. Then drill the bolt into the top off the tank.
Every little helps

Scooter workshop guy posts the problem on an internet forum to get help from the forum members to solve the problem.
Scooter workshop guy may profit from the advice given by forum members by charging for his services and 'expertise' but isn't offering anything in exchange for the assistance of the forum members.
Of course Dan may well find the problem is ignition related and didn't therefore need the help of the forum guys in the first place, and I appreciate that potentially without their suggestions the fault diagnosis may be a lengthy process therefore costing the customer more.
However to ask for help solving a problem that he'll be charging for, in my opinion, is taking the p155 if he's not offering anyone something in exchange.
Nowt wrong asking for help, I do it all the time, but in my professional capacity if I'm asking for help from someone who isn't making anything out of it then I'd find a way to cut them in on the deal or at least show my appreciation in some way other than just saying thanks.
Is it clear now Ric ?

Oh dear..........the post was just supposed to be an interesting one for us to puzzle out together, a bit of involvement for anyone that wanted to chip in. Its a bit of a shame when a tech thread veers off into personal points of view and digresses from the real issue.Stokie wrote: Customer takes a scooter with a problem into a scooter workshop to get it fixed.

I'm sure forum members would be horrified if everytime Sean or i answered a tech question for them we then billed them, so the argument you make seems somewhat null and void, and if i'm honest....a bit petty.
I dare say the scooter will get fixed with or without forum members input, and the customer wont get charged anymore or any less, but i believe the point of the forum is to share experiences both good, bad and unusual....so that everyone can benefit. These unusual tech-problems crop up from time to time, and it would be nice if everyone reads this thread, and then if at some point in the future they suffer a similar problem, they can refer back to this thread (and many other similar) FOR FREE and benefit accordingly. So in effect 'the prize' is the benefit of free knowledge on this forum.....for everyone, and thats a two-way street for Sean and i also.
But....my position was not, as you synically suggest, to profiteer from free advice, but more so to share an unusual tech-issue with like-minded individuals who may enjoy working through the challenging conundrum with us. I had no intention of 'taking the p155'.
Now that i've taken the time to explain my point of view, i hope that you can understand the situation a bit more clearly and understand our position.
Cheers
Dan
