Have to say that the vast majority didn't think that was an option. As I said earlier, I didn't know the ins and outs of this and probably never will but my impression was that Kev Walsh seems to have been doing some negotiating with Mr Frankland without the knowledge of the committee unless I miss interpreted what he was saying.

Regardless of whether or not Martin Frankland has obtained copyright or not (LCGB says not) if there is a market out there for a Lambretta club offering something different to the LCGB then that is completely fine. What is NOT fine is hi-jacking a logo which is undeniably historically linked to the LCGB. I have to ask myself why do that? Why not come up with a completely original name? The new club (so I understand) is actually a limited company registered to Mr Franklin and his wife, that in itself seems rather strange and certainly makes me think that this move is at least in part, a commercial venture. Anyway, that's my take on it, I dare say others might have differing views but I just hope they are based on an objective look at the facts rather that the like or dislike of members of the committee who I feel get a lot of undeserved flack ;)
Who is Martin Frankland?
Think it’s Gavin Frankland who owns BLOA , ain’t Martin Frankland the geezer behind taffspeed?

Well all right then, whoTHINKS he owns BLOA.

Perhaps they’re related then? Or just a strange coincidence bit like the two Harry Barlow’s.

Are they related to Gary and Ken?

Reading the history of the club on their page does confuse the issue in my mind.
The Club lambretta of Great Britain seems to have been formed by two Dealers / riders, then lambretta concessionaires took it over and changed it to BLOA. then later changed it to Lambretta Club of Great Britain, then it later got moth balled ,to be revived by Widness saints and Kev walsh, who kept the name LCGB.
Does this mean they still own the rights to "the Club Lambretta of Great Britain and BLOA" ?
Seems to me they never used the name , or bothered about protecting it until someone else, allegedly Registered it.
might just be the way i read it

"but I was a little worried to learn that Bob was to drop the name B.L.O.A. and all its insignia, in favor of a name similar to the original Club title. From now on the club would be known as Lambretta Club of Great Britain, or Lambretta Club (GB) or just L.C.G.B.

It was a question of a 'new broom sweeping clean' and of course Bob was right, the new image did wonders and was totally compatible with the new generation of Lambretta models. Although the old formula was applied to rallies, the new logo for L.C.GB made a great impact, in red, white and blue too - very patriotic."
just an extract fro LCGB own web page

I went to school with Frank Martinland, a very studious youth who moved to Iceland to study swallow migration.

Wasn’t Martin Frankland the geezer who played “Tim” in the Office?
