I just think all of this talk about 35 this and 38 that is utter cobblers.

It may be a long long time ago that I last raced (well, who can remember 1992 anyway), but I'm sure my Group 4 had at least 40. Though I have to admit that at the time it MAY have been downhill with the wind behind me!

Dj

Well hi Dave. Things move on. Come and watch..A group 4 machine shouldnt be winning outright should it in the 'traditional' way of thinking? Smallframe vespas setting outright scooter lap records on the full cadwell circuit on its second outing? Tuned by the same man.
I wouldnt dispute the figures. They are correct.

Cor Blimey mates! The 35 and 38? I thought it were the SPEED! I did say mine used to do 40 downhill with the wind behind!
Wife always said if I have to explain a joke then it aint workin so GIVE UP!
And as for the mex tache, that went years ago! But anyway I always thought of it as less "Mex", more "Our Nige", cos he had one just like mine!

the whole point of this forum..............scooterotica..........was to pass on as much info as we could provide to the scooter enthusiast interested in tuning..................
dan and myself have always done this...................no holds barred..........
what ever tuning tips we have,or new things etc............we have always shared.............
if something works well ............we tell you.........
and if there are probs we alert you........................

hopefully most of you will be quite pleased at being scooterotica members and benefiting from the good advice on this forum............provided from many top scooter names/businesses/tuners/experts/racers etc etc..............not to mention a whole other spectrum of clever members..............
but ultimately and inevitably sometimes we will get up against much cleverer and more skilled peoples than ourselves...................
and so..........we do of course have to be very gratefull for any help at all...................................and to also respect their reluctance to help..................

I will help you with all my rotary valve findings.. I have absolutely no issue divulging 'my' stuff re tuning or maintenance. But I'm sorry but unless I get a green light from him I will not be divulging Charlie's stuff. And thanks for understanding that. It would be the same in asking Ralph to tell us what Paul Baker is up to.. getting Paul Green to give us the stuff inside his motor.
Of course I may be the closest contact to Charlie on here but please understand what I've said and why.. cheers guys.

I'm just wondering if a Mexican style 'tasche has any bearing on rider skill and if I should start a new thread?

Personally I've grown mine to full Cheech Marin luxuriousness but I'm still as slow as an arthretic Sloath with piles on the road.

Wow!!! DJ on here. Anyone who knows me will be aware that He's my hero!

That 80mph road Mugello 186 used DJ's 150cc port timings

Tony . . . I'd suggest that things may not have moved on all that much because lap times in DJ's day are not all that different from now. What does show here is that there's more than one way to skin a monkey, with wildly different tuning strategies providing similar results.

PS I still reckon the crank will work
