But all you hear abot this kit is how poor performance it is.If im correct, the Rapido classic is just that, the race version is just badly done so doesnt it make sense to buy a cheap barrel and get it ported to a proper road tune/stage 4.I aint seen one of these cheap kits but you do hear how you dont get the performance out of the off the shelf kits that are on the market.eibargum wrote:By the time you,v costed that lot in you may as well buy the Muggy.soosh wrote:So its worth buying one and porting it and getting a head done and a decent piston?
i'd be very interested to see how this develops eden. i love that bang for your buck tuning.eden wrote:Ive just done a port trace of one of these barrels (the 225 one) to see if I could use one to replicate my tune on one.
turns out that I could, they are rough as a dog though and the steel liner looks very thin around the transfers.
They are not the same construction as a rapido barrel, the rapidos liner extends through the ports to the gasket face.
If I can get hold of one for next to nothing I'm going to chop it up to see whats possible as regards porting. Ive been looking for a suitable ali barrel to replicate my tune on for a while, the rapido has transfers that are too high for use with a 62mm stroke unless a head packer is used, which i dont want to do. mugelo v1 is usable but they are not that easy to get hold of.
These cheap ali barrels are cheap and easy to get, so are good for testing stuff on.
